How this started
muwav was built over 800 hours of evenings and weekends by one person who wanted a better way to listen to music they already own. No venture capital. No investors. No growth targets. Just software that needed to exist.
What you pay
muwav for macOS is free, and it’s staying that way. muwav is built around taking your music with you — so if you want the full experience everywhere you go, you can purchase the iOS version. One time, paid up front.
Subscriptions will never be required for muwav. They may be offered for features that require server-side infrastructure, but the core app will always work without one.
What muwav doesn’t do
muwav has no ads. No analytics. No data brokers. Your listening habits stay on your device. There is no telemetry phoning home, no behavioral tracking, no third-party SDKs watching what you play or when you play it.
Most music apps are surveillance machines — they build profiles from your habits and sell that to advertisers or use it to manipulate what you hear next. muwav doesn’t do any of that. Your music is your business.
Your exit
muwav includes full data export. Your Waves, your ratings, your cue points — all of it. If you ever decide muwav isn’t for you, or if the project changes direction in a way you don’t like, you can take your data and leave. No lock-in, no hostage situation.
Your music files were always yours. They were on your device before muwav, and they’ll be on your device after. muwav never modifies your files — the only exception is a maintenance feature that lets you delete your own files from within the app, and only when you explicitly choose to.
How to verify this
This page is a living document. If the commitments above ever change, this page changes — publicly, visibly, in writing. You don’t have to trust my intentions. You can check the Wayback Machine and compare what this page says today against what it said when you first read it.
If something disappears from this page, that’s your signal. The continued presence of these words is the commitment.
